There's nothing in our way.
Come on let's just play!
I don't care what they say.
You know there's so much that you need to do.
You can't keep ignoring what's in front of you.
You promised you would get it done yesterday.
And now all you want to do is play?
Why don't we just play?
There's nothing in our way.
Come on let's just play!
I don't care what they say.
My mind is blank, my head's gone numb, my inbox is full.
I don't know what to do next and it makes me feel a fool.
Can't save it for a rainy day so I grab my guitar and play.
Why don't we just play?
There's nothing in our way.
Come on let's just play!
I don't care what they say.
When you pick up that guitar, it's a warning sign.
Those deadlines will be sliding one more time.
Everyone is waiting, it's not going away.
You just can't keep repeating "it will be OK".
Come on let's just play.
It can wait another day.
You know what they say,
About all work and no play.

Technical Notes:
The music for this tune was written while on holiday in Hobart in early 2023 and lay dormant for a while until the words were written later that year down at Trevor's south coast home. While it was the last song written for the Pineapple Doughnut album, we have made this the first song - as it seems to us that it embodies the spirit of the album... just play! It was recorded in our homes using Studio Logic with Scarlet 18i20 and Universal Audio interfaces. Kaspar played the drums in his LA home using his Roland V-Drums and EZ-Drummer drum samples. The guitar (a Strat of course) and bass (a Fender Jazz) were played through Line-6 HX-Stompbox based amplifier models. The Rhodes sound is the default E-piano sample that comes with Logic. We used an AKG-C414 microphone for the vocals.
