Lyrics:
Stars in the sky not on the sidewalk.
People drop by and we just talk.
We’re happy here at home,
In our bungalow.
At Palm and Marengo.
We like our wine, and we like our food.
We like conversation. Sometimes it's funny, sometimes quite rude.
We’re happy where we are.
Strumming a guitar.
At Palm and Marengo.
Hollywood and Vine is just a slum.
Freeway driving, fame conniving,
It’s all hum drum.
Don’t stop in south LA, drive on through.
And you know what you can do with Malibu.
Honestly the place sucks. Nah! You can’t even see the beach. What? No. Really.
Palm and Marengo.
The mountains loom large as I drink a beer.
There’s nothing but grass and trees and birds to see out here.
We’re happy here at home,
In our bungalow.
At Palm and Marengo.
Palm and Marengo.
People drop by and we just talk.
We’re happy here at home,
In our bungalow.
At Palm and Marengo.

Technical Notes:
A song about Theo and Sallie's first home in LA. This was written in 2003 and a version was recorded at that time. In 2009 it was re-recorded by the band that Kaspar, Theo and Sallie were in at that time called Dangerous Aliens as a demo in order to get to play at the Topanga Days music festival - which we did. You can find that recording on the band web page here. That version was recorded in Tom and Alexis' home using the windows based Cakewalk Sonar DAW setup in the bathroom as the control room and Sallie did the engineering. It was recorded as one live take of guitars, bass and drums while the keyboard part was done later by Antoine on his Nord KB in in Chile where he was living at that time. The vocals were done after that at Theo and Sallie's place in LA. For this album we managed to reuse these tracks using the public domain version of Sonar called Cakewalk by BandLab and transfer the tracks to Studio Logic. In the original version the second verse was a keyboard solo, but we have moved that to replace the old guitar solo after the middle-8 and added a second verse. We redid the lead vocal part, and added some modern kick drum samples to the drums to pep things up a bit. Other than that it's still the basic full band live take as originally recorded.
