Lyrics:
Same time every Friday,
I take the noose from around my neck.
It's never far from the car to the bar,
I'm aiming on leaving a wreck.
For the next two beautiful days
I will remember to forget.
I'm gonna laugh out loud and lie inside
And break free from the Net!

When the weekend comes,
It's all over and done.
When the weekend comes,
It's time for fun.

Just like last Saturday
I'm gonna drink too early and sleep too late.
I won't fake a smile or watch what I say
Pay attention or have to wait.
I might look like a star, act like a slob,
Scrub like a slave or lie like a rock.
Meet my friends, maybe call her up,
Watch the sun and not the clock.

When the weekend comes,
It's time to laugh.
When the weekend comes,
It's never enough.

At the end of every week there's a small reprieve,
Relief from the routine and the stress.
When the weekend comes, I feel more alive.
Escape from the madness.

Brunch time every Sunday,
The phone is off and the music's on.
I read for pleasure not profit
And replay my favourite song.
I'm gonna be with the ones I love,
I won't hurry or worry or frown.
I live every dream I can
Until Monday comes around!

When the weekend comes,
It's time to laugh.
When the weekend comes,
It's never enough.
When the weekend comes,
It's all over and done.
When the weekend comes,
It's time for fun.
When the weekend comes!
When the weekend comes!
When the weekend comes!
Technical Notes:
This song started with lyrics written by Trevor which he sent to Theo in LA, who added the music in late 2021. First Theo put down the guitars, guide drum and bass tracks using Studio Logic with his Strat and the Jazz bass through Line-6 HX-Stompbox amplifier simulations in his LA home. Trevor re-did the bass part and did the vocals in his home on the south coast of New South Wales, and then Theo added some BVs using the AKG-C414. Kaspar played the drums using his Roland V-Drums and EZ-Drummer samples at his place in LA. A version of this song was released on a Cruise Control album in 2022 with a guitar solo by Theo, but in the spirit of completeness for this set of tunes we had Les redo the guitar solo (again with a Strat, various pedals, and the Line-6) so a new version could be included on this album.
